Every year, hundreds of Americans report to authorities that they believe they have seen a creature known as Bigfoot. Michigan has had its fair share of these reports – 225 that have been tracked.
If you think you see Bigfoot in Michigan, what county would it be in? BetMichigan.com took a break from our Michigan online casinos reviews to find out. We used data from The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, which compiled the number of Bigfoot sightings reported by state and by county – the list is maintained by researchers, archivists, and investigators. We used that data to develop odds projecting the chance of Bigfoot sighting reports in Michigan counties.
Michigan Counties Where People Report Bigfoot Sightings
It makes sense that when people think they have finally spotted the mythical creature known as Bigfoot, that it would happen in more rural counties. Because Bigfoot would hang out mostly in the woods, right?
According to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization website, Delta County in the Upper Peninsula has had the most reports of a Bigfoot sighting, with 11 – the most recent was in 2018. That’s why we have Delta County at the top of our odds board.
Two other Upper Peninsula counties make our list as well – that’s Marquette and Schoolcraft. The other two counties are not in the UP but are not too far south of it, toward the top of “The Mitten” on the map – that’s Oscoda and Ogemaw.
A few of the counties on our list are among the most sparsely populated in the land of Michigan casino apps – Schoolcraft County has just 8,124 residents as of 2024, according to the World Population Review website, and Oscoda has 8,699. Both are among the six least populated out of 83 counties in the state. Ogemaw County has 21,061 residents and Delta has 36,799. The only county on our list that’s in the state’s top 30 biggest is Marquette, which ranks No. 29 with a population of 67,450.
