Now that Christmas season is fully upon us, it’s high time to begin decking the halls across the Great Lakes State. Residents in the land of Michigan online casinos have their fair share of opinions on which type of tree is best.
For Michigan residents, it appears that the answer to the age-old question of “real tree versus artificial ones” has a definitive answer.
Holiday season is in full swing. At BetMichigan.com, we wondered if locals prefer real or artificial Christmas trees. We turned to Google Trends for comparing search interest scores for “real Christmas trees” or “artificial Christmas trees.” We filtered search results to only include Michigan, with searches from Nov. 30-Dec. 25, 2023. Don’t forget to check out our Michigan casino bonuses as well.
Type | Score |
Artificial Tree | 18 |
Real Tree | 10 |
Given the state’s wholesome bounty of coniferous trees, it might of some surprise to learn that Michigan residents chose plastic over pine this year. However, two of the Great Lakes State’s largest metropolitan areas went against the grain.
Overall, artificial trees netted a search interest score of 18 statewide in Michigan, nearly doubling the score that real trees posted during the same period, with pine trees notching a total of 10 points in the place where legal, regulated Michigan sportsbooks are available statewide.
Metro | Type | Percentage of Preference |
Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo | Real Tree | 51% |
Flint-Saginaw | Real Tree | 55% |
Detroit | Artificial Tree | 51% |
Of the three metro areas where we gathered data, the Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo region (51% to 49% in favor of real trees) and the Flint-Saginaw MSA (55%-45% edge for real trees) chose the all-natural approach over the plastic alternative. As for Detroit, the Motor City bucked the trend by siding with artificial trees over real ones by a slim 51-49 margin.
A real holiday present for the state’s football fans would be for their NFL team to win a championship at last. See Detroit Lions Super Bowl odds for the latest on the team, which is off to a franchise-best 11-1 start.
