Most Undervalued Detroit Tigers On 2025 Roster

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

After Michigan’s MLB team snapped decade-long postseason drought in 2024, Detroit Tigers playoff odds are a strong consideration for 2025. The Tigers are ready to prove that last year’s playoff run was anything but a fluke, with a host of young talent at their disposal and a wide-open American League Central to contend with in 2025.

BetMichigan.com used Fangraphs.com to gather salary information and projected 2025 WAR (Wins Above Replacement). We then divided the salary by the player’s projected WAR to determine the players’ potential value, expressed as dollar per projected WAR point. This analysis is exclusive to BetMichigan.com, where the best Michigan sportsbook promos are ready for the 2025 MLB season.

Who Are The Most Undervalued Tigers?

The most undervalued of them all in the Motor City this baseball season is outfielder Riley Greene, who has a preseason WAR projection of 4.3 from Fangraphs.com on a $800,000 league minimum salary. We calculate his “value” (salary per WAR) at $186,047. He could be a good wager for some Michigan sports betting player props in 2025.

Two more Tigers on league minimum deals, fellow outfielder Parker Meadows (2.6 WAR projection/$307,692 value) and pitcher Reese Olson (1.9 WAR projection/$421,053 value) are the other Detroit players that made the cut as most undervalued team members this baseball season.

Of the three, Greene is expected to provide the bulk of Detroit’s offensive heft this year. Fangraphs projects him to hit third in the Tigers lineup, bashing 22 home runs and posting a wRC+ of 130 in 147 games played. Meadows is expected to belt 16 home runs and post a wRC+ of 100 from the leadoff spot in the team’s lineup.

Finally, Olson is expected to be Detroit’s No. 3 starter this season, per Fangraphs, with a 3.90 projected ERA and 3.85 FIP figure across 134 innings pitched. The 25-year-old is projected for 26 starts, to provide a fair bit of value for manager A.J. Hinch and company.

Regardless of how the trio performs come baseball season, for now we know that oddsmakers are expecting Detroit to make some noise on the diamond in 2025. Michigan sportsbook apps have +270 odds of Detroit winning the AL Central (tied for second alongside the Kansas City Royals and behind the Minnesota Twins, at +210), to go with a preseason win total over/under of 83.5 in the Motor City.
