The dynamic duo out of California schools UC-Berkeley (Goff) and USC (St. Brown) connected 119 times a year ago for 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns. Goff leaned on St. Brown as his go-to receiver, propelling Detroit to a 12-5 run that cemented the pair as one of the top QB-WR tandems in the league.

Detroit Lions 2024 Outlook

This year, oddsmakers from DraftKings Sportsbook Michigan are giving St. Brown +2200 odds of winning the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award, good for ninth leaguewide, while Goff comes in at a distant +15000 (non-quarterbacks historically have had a better chance of winning POY than Most Valuable Player).

The Lions odds are even rosier, with Detroit holding the fourth lowest Super Bowl odds, at +1200 as of Aug. 13. Detroit is sitting at +135 to win the NFC North for a second straight season, ranking well ahead of the Green Bay Packers (+230), Chicago Bears (+275) and Minnesota Vikings (+950) with the Michigan sports betting app operator.

Where Goff & St. Brown Rank in the NFL

Among the NFL’s myriad of QB-WR combos, the Goff-St. Brown tandem scored the third highest total (29 points) in our research.

The Lions tandem finished behind only Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys (38 points) and the Brock Purdy-Brandon Aiyuk duo from the San Francisco 49ers (31 points).

Leaguewide, the Lions’ QB-WR combo ranked ahead of the Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, who tied at 28 points with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Other Duos Rounding Out Top 10

Lamar Jackson and Rashod Bateman of the Baltimore Ravens tied for sixth, along with former Lions QB Matt Stafford and Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams, at 23 points. C.J. Stroud, last season’s Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year with the Houston Texans, combined with Nico Collins for 22 points to finish eighth on our list.

Household names like Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles (15 points, ninth place) and Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10) rounded out the top 10 but were looking up at the Goff-St. Brown totals.

The 2024 Detroit Lions playoff chances once again likely will ride with the offensive one-two punch of Jared Goff’s right arm and Amon-Ra St. Brown’s pass catching abilities.
