Which Detroit Lions Jersey Has The Best Win Loss Percentage?
Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

An NFL franchise named after the king of the animal kingdom finds itself in a fitting position this season, because the Detroit Lions are at the top of the NFC North’s food chain and hungry for another deep playoff run in 2024. And you can follow Detroit Lions Super Bowl odds all season at BetMichigan.com.

Last year, Detroit earned its first division title since 1991, thanks in large part to head coach Dan Campbell’s offensive attack. The Lions ranked in the top five NFL wide in points (fifth overall) and yards per game (third) with a plus-66 point differential in a 12-5 season.

At BetMichigan.com, as part of our Michigan sportsbooks coverage, we wanted to see if there was any correlation between jersey color and performance. Using Pro-Football-Reference.com and Gridiron-Uniforms.com, we compared the past five years of jerseys and game results for the Lions to see which jersey had the best win-loss percentage.

For 2024, oddsmakers at DraftKings Sportsbook Michigan see Detroit as a legit threat, not just in the NFC North but to win the conference and earn their first trip to the Super Bowl. The Lions hold the second best NFC title odds, at +550, behind the San Francisco 49ers (+250), as of July 22.

As for NFC North odds, Detroit is at +150 to repeat as division champs. That ranks first, ahead of the Green Bay Packers at +210, Chicago Bears at +265 and the Minnesota Vikings at +1000. That gives you a pretty good portrait of the success that oddsmakers at DraftKings and Michigan sports betting apps envision for Campbell’s bunch in 2024.

As for how we put together the chart that you see above? Using Pro-Football-Reference.com and Gridiron-Uniforms.com, we compared the past five years of jerseys and game results to see which jersey had the best win-loss percentage.

How Lions Have Fared in Various Jerseys

Unlike 2023, the Lions’ overall five-year success rate (or lack thereof) has been anything but glorious. Even with last season’s success, Detroit is 32-49 (a .395 winning percentage) since 2019. In the past two seasons, Detroit has a 21-13 mark (.618).

Some folks using the best Michigan sportsbook promos to sign up with an operator might seek a trend in something such as jersey colors.

Since 2019, the team’s gray jerseys had the best winning percentage at .444 overall.

That total beat out Detroit’s blue kit, which has seen a win percentage of .429 since 2019. The franchise’s white jersey is at .359 over the past five years.

The Lions have come far from their rock-bottom days from 1999 to 2010, when the franchise failed to make the playoffs.

Looking forward, Campbell and company will look to pick up where they left off in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams at Ford Field in Detroit’s regular-season opener. Caesars Sportsbook Michigan lists the Lions as a 3.5-point home favorite for that Sunday night opener on Sept. 8.
